They Called Him Ishmael

What did I learn

from You  yesterday?

In Genesis, though Abraham

loved his son Ishmael

he sent him off in to the desert,

trusting You to keep Your promise

to make a nation of him.

If we understood Your promises more,

we’d worry less,

and be willing to sacrifice

and take risks.

And see Your wonders

come to fruition.
