wordle crowd, part, prayer, focus, verse, near, handle, ignore, note image, know, anchor, child, city

Second Coming

A crowd looks up into the sky
And watches bright clouds part
Some offer prayers to God on high
His focus from the start

A verse may pass through Christian minds
About His coming near
They handle this in different kinds
They now cannot ignore

A wondrous truth to note today
The image of the clouds
To know Him surely, come what may
The anchor to the crowds

With childlike eagerness to go
To the great city of our God

couplets wordle

Someday

We’ll all pass through the door of Death
And bow before God’s wondrous throne
Someday we’ll take our final breath
And finally we will be home

We’ll praise, we’ll worship, dance and sing
And reminisce the love and smiles
Eternity with joy will ring
Forgetting all the pain and trials

Curtal sonnet

Moon and Son

The great round moon is nailed to the night sky
Like Ahab’s coin is nailed to Pequod’s mast
And tempts the passions of the common soul
To one who spies the whale, this coin!” the cry.
The  number promising the moon is vast
Yet Ahab’s offers were to take control.
And so man’s earthly aim is just the same
But He who placed the moon forgives the past
And promises to heal and make us whole
Relying on the sweet and precious name
His Son

Prayer

Attentive Ears

Thank You, Lord.
You know what I need before I ask it.
And You know what I need
even if I don’t know it.
Please, meet all my needs-
the ones I know
and the ones I don’t know.

I put my trust in You.
Lead me. Guide me.
Fill me with Your Spirit.
May we walk hand in hand
and heart to heart,
conversing together.
Friends at all times.

Poetic Bloomings Something Gotta Give

Overdue

Something’s got to give.
Somethings got to pop.
It’s eight days past
when this baby should drop.

Grandma wonders when.
Grandma wonders why
that baby won’t come
to give his first cry.

I’m big as a blimp.
I’m feeling lazy.
Please come baby,
before I go crazy.

On My Desk

If you were able to make it over here
past the clutter
to find this note
I’m probably dead.
Nice knowing ya.

Feeling like a failure?
If so, what you need

Rispetto

Anniversary Today

Some thirty seven years ago
We made a promise in my yard.
But very little did we know
That keeping it would be so hard.

So whether rich, poor, well, or sick
With God and grit we made it stick.
For better, worse, great or best
We’re trusting God for all the rest.

The Smile

I didn’t go to church a lot as a child
but I remember one time
squirming in the pew,
looking back behind me
and a lady looked into my eyes and smiled.

I wondered why and turned around.
I had a loving family, but with five girls
in a small house and my dad not believing
in spanking but yelling, making eye contact
with a smile was rare.

It wasn’t until I was eighteen
I realized Jesus was like that lady.
He looks into your eyes and smiles.

Response to snow lover

Yes, snow is precious, it is true.
A lovely scene, and moisture, too.
But when my toes are turning blue.
I go kerchoo! I go kerchoo!

Prayer of Receiving

Missed Blessings

I stand barefoot
in cold creek water
as it rushes past
carrying leaves,
twigs and fish.

Lord, help me latch
onto Your blessings
and not let them float by
like so much fish and debris
in the stream.

Thank You for Knowing

All about sparrows
and all about me.
Lord, draw near

Poetic Bloomings monotetra

I’d Like to be a Snow Bird

The golden aspens in a row
Do chatter as the cold winds blow
Soon winter’s coming this I know
Let’s skip the snow, let’s skip the snow.

The rain descends, the sky is gray
And it grows colder day by day.
The baring trees, they swing and sway.
Snow, stay away! Snow stay away!

Yes, Colorado’s a mile high
The snow comes early. Hear me sigh.
So here we sit. I don’t know why.
Down south, let’s fly! Down south, let’s fly!

Poetic Asides Ekphrastik poem Eiffel tower

Perspective

Viewing my daughters pictures
taken from the Eiffel tower,
Paris appeared white,
like dead men’s bones,
reminiscent of Ezekiel 37:1.
Whoever called Paris romantic
mustn’t have had an aerial view.

Poetic Bloomings Force of Nature

Secrets

The sunrise instills a calmness
Though most seldom feel it
The fog casts its mystery
But few can reveal it

The thunder sings its song
Though not all care to listen
The sun dazzles water
Though few see it glisten

The ocean hides it treasures
That most don’t uncover
The wind whispers secrets
From an eternal lover

Poetic Bloomings Ballade

 Creation Shows God’s Praise

They rise up from the land
Like monsters of the deep.
Their ridges resting and
They look like they’re asleep.
The mountains grand and steep
Applaud Him all their days.
Their beauty makes one weep.
Creation shows God’s praise.

The oceans roar their song
Beneath blue steely skies,
Declaring loud and strong
The grace of one so wise.
His greatness advertise
Repeating with each wave.
Their honor never dies.
Creation shows God’s praise

The forests tall and green,
They hide within their shade
Their wonders seldom seen.
Choice treasures that God made
With beauty so arrayed
His wonders He displays.
Their glory doesn’t fade.
Creation shows God’s praise.

 The mountains, oceans, wood
And all that He has made,
They praise Him as they should.
Creation shows God’s praise.

Wordle: cavernous, tiny, dragon, finger, discover, wrangle, operate, neighbor, blur, wish, join, name

To Stand

Lord, life appears as cavernous
And I feel tiny at its face
A dragon may be lurking there
A finger beckons me and thus

Advancing to discover where
To wrangle issues like a bear
To operate loving God and
My neighbor as I bravely dare

And life goes blur right out of hand
I wish they’d stop the trickling sand
And soon I’ll join heavenly band.
The name of Jesus helps me stand

Poetic Asides Evacuation

Louisiana Evacuation

Nothing like the feeling
you get when a hurricane
descends on your daughter
as she escapes to Arkansas

and then days later makes
her way back with a convoy
of cars. And then you
listen on the phone

as she returns to her apartment
and checks her toilet
for critters that may have
washed up from the flood.

I’m glad she’s in Phoenix now.
Nothing more to worry about
than a haboob on the highway
or heat exhaustion.

 Broken heart
All in the town must know.
She chooses to grieve the loss a while.
Then catching a glimpse of sunshine dancing through the window pane,
She spies the ad: single white male, loves to hike and walk barefoot on the beach.

Poetic Bloomings rubaiyat

At Twenty-Nine

When death comes knocking for the young,
When music stops before song’s sung,
We pause to feel the sorrow’s pain.
Too soon, the final bell has rung.

The thoughts surge slowly through the brain.
It feels like acid through the vein.
You wonder why the tears won’t come
Or if the numbness will remain.

“It can’t be real,” beats like a drum.
Impossible! It sounds so dumb.
The sky’s still blue, the days go on.
Where did this throbbing ache come from?

The joy and hope becomes withdrawn.
Tear after tear, the grief does spawn.
You cry until the tears are gone.
Then they return with the next dawn.

In the moment

Morning Moment

Trying to corral my thoughts,
like wild horses, though I may
look relaxed sitting here in my
comfy chair tapping on my laptop.
Justin sits to my left on his chair
with his knees up, one leg crossed
over his knee at the ankle. He’s
playing with one of his noisy toys,
singing a counting song, three pigs,
five ducks. Let’s count. Vanessa
sits at the table eating. I can see
her head peeking up from the back
of the wheelchair. Now Loren’s
shaving Justin, who’s trying to
smile while being shaved. Loren
sings along with the toy. Time to
brush teeth, Loren says. My cue.
