PAD 19 common place

Grocery Store Friendship

One time while wheeling
my two children up and down
the aisles of the grocery store,
I met a woman with her two children,
at each pass, coming from opposite directions.

We’d comment about the weather,
the food labels, the prices, our kids,
the mundane activities of the day.
By the time our baskets were full
we were friends, except I never saw her again.
