Triolet PA directions

Directionally Challenged

But I forget from whence I came.
Directions always stay the same.
It should be easy as my name.
But I get lost outside my yard.
Directions always stay the same.
You’d think it wouldn’t be so hard.

Rondine

Cabin in the Woods

Alone. Cozy. Scottish cabin.
Wooded area stretching out
To mountain ridges all about.
Rising smoke wisp, curvy and thin.
A yellow light, warm, inviting.
A peaceful place, without a doubt.
 Alone. Cozy.

By the hearth, rug of badger skin
Fragrant scent of freshly-caught trout,
While hot tea tumbles from a spout.
Contentment grows deeply within.
Alone. Cozy.

Adventure’s Waiting

Excitement’s building day by day.
For all the choices, we must pray.
I count on Him to bring good end.

It’s nice when family are friends.
We will have fun, yes, come what may.
Adventure’s waiting ‘round the bend.
Excitement’s building, day by day.

The walks we’ll take, the shows attend.
The sights we’ll see in the U. K.
The food we’ll eat, the games we’ll play.
On God’s sweet grace, we will depend.
Adventure’s waiting ‘round the bend.

Rondeau

Seeking You in the Morning

Seeking You in the morning, I resolve to do.
Jesus, I’m lost and adrift without You.
I need You to lead me throughout the day.
I believe there is no other worthwhile way.
Without You, my hopes and joys are few.

Lord, You indeed make all things bright and new.
I know You love me and will see me through.
Without You, I have nothing much to say.
Seeking You in the morning.

I need Your wisdom, for I have no clue.
You put the color in my life, every hue.
On You, all my burdens I firmly lay.
My life is worthless if I don’t pray.
You are what is good, right and true.
Seeking You in the morning.

Dunnottar Castle

Dunnottar Castle sits on a big rock
Protruding out into the rich North Sea.
Looks like a toy atop a birthday cake.
Made to guard its lands from Pictish attacks.
It once protected crown jewels from Cromwell.

Now tourists like to take the lengthy walk,
Filled with curiosity and esprit.
They follow the curvy path like a snake.
They listen to tour guides who spill the facts.
Before they leave, they are under its spell.

Wars, kings, Honours of Scotland fill the talk.
Now the ruins whisper of past glory
Which subsequent builders tried to remake.
Now the old buildings can sigh and relax
While visitors are filled with tales to tell.

Quatern

By Connie Shannon Peters

The Shannon River bears my name
Houses huddle along its banks
Small boats rest within its waters
The docks reach out to welcome guests

I look forward to greeting it
The Shannon River bears my name
Born and raised in Pennsylvania,
I lived along the Shannon Creek

We heard stories of the River
And Ireland of our ancestors
The Shannon River bears my name
It feels part of my family

Someday I’ll walk along its banks
Or cruise along its scenery
Wear my Shannon tee with a grin
The Shannon River bears my name

Proof

A castle serene
Surrounded by green
And lake
A beautiful scene
Fit for king and queen
I’ll take
Pictures to be seen
To show where I’ve been
No fake

kyrielle PA Another Blank

Last fall we went to Hawaii.

Experience was so sublime.
And I did not expect to get
another trip of a lifetime.

But here we go planning again.
Some may believe it is a crime
to plan to have so much fun on

We’re headed for the Emerald Isle.
And parts of Scotland, we will climb.
And when we’re done, I’m sure we’ll plan
another trip of a lifetime.

Callanish Stones

The stones of Callanish, on Lewis Isle
Appear as wise old men guarding a tomb
Yes, they’ve been standing guard for quite a while
Near five millennia through rain and gloom
Nobody knows who lies there in earth’s womb
But many hike these Scottish lands to stare
At how the monoliths were placed with care
And babies become old and then they die
And these old guards continue on in prayer
Leaving generations to ponder why

Bref Double

The Falls of Dochart, Killin, Scotland

In spate, the falls flow full and fast.
They tumble over large flat rocks.
They’re more like rapids some observe.
Their noise impresses passersby.

It’s nature’s best in one long blast.
When water’s low we take off socks.
We snap some pictures of it all.
And walk so slow, at least we try.

The narrow road, the stony bridge,
The ancient mill, the hills and trees,
The row of old white houses there,
They all combine to glorify.

We’re glad we stopped as we went past,
Which we’ll relive in future talks.

Triolet

Like Enoch

I can imagine meeting You there,
On a starry night on a lonely Scottish moor.
We’d commune intimately in prayer.
I can imagine meeting You there.
Like You with Enoch, we’d share.
Then walk through Heaven’s door.
I can imagine meeting You there
On a starry night on a lonely Scottish moor.

Sijo

The rocks, trees, cliffs, hills, lochs and rivers of the Scottish Highlands.
My ancestors walked here before the Revolutionary War.
I wonder, how many ways will I and do I walk in their steps?

Dunvegan Castle

Dunvegan Castle, Isle of Skye
In Scotland on the western coast
Looks down on inlet from up high
Reflection offers much to boast

Imagine wandering through its halls
With ghosts who whisper in its walls
The castle’s changed throughout the years
Its history filled with love and fears

Of Yesterday

Noup Head lighthouse on Westray, Orkneys
Perches on cliff’s edge all alone
Waiting and watching to warn
No one listens today
Busy at gadgets
It still stands tall
Outdated
Lovely
Sad

Abracadabra (with refrain)

The Fairy Pools

The Fairy Pools of the Isle of Skye,
Meringue-like mountains frame them there.
It’s easy to imagine fairies flitting about.
Several streams pour down from up high,
Down into the rocky, deep blue pool.
Too icy to swim, but adventurers try.
The magic is there, everyone can tell.
I think of being there, with a sigh.
Stretched out on the boulders, taking it in.
It’s easy to imagine fairies flitting about.
When time to go, they whisper goodbye.

Ancestral Land

The waves rush on the Scottish shore,
While bagpipes wail their distant song.
With ancestors, we sing along.
We’re tourists here but feel much more.
A part of us came from their lore.
Their blood flows deep within our veins,
From fishermen to those who reigned.
The cobblestones once bore their feet.
Someday in Heaven we may meet.
Till then we’ll search for what remains.

PA Distraction

Puzzling with Purpose

Since my world shattered
into pieces like a china plate,
I’ve taken out my jigsaw puzzles
and put them together repeatedly.

First the Thomas Kinkade garden scene,
then the two wolves, and the lake cabin..
Then it’s more Thomas Kinkade puzzles,
an Aspen mountain and an ancient castle.

When I face the pieces laying there,
completing the puzzle, seems impossible.
But one by one, the small pieces fit together
and soon the whole picture forms.

I puzzle purposefully,
reminding myself that as I work
at the little daily things of life,
the big picture will come together.
